Our Community We are a diverse community: multiracial, multiethnic, intergenerational, ecumenical, and multinational. Our community constitution describes our unique calling: a contemplative ministry of presence rooted in our own Christian contemplative prayer, monastic hospitality, and an apostolic witness to persons and communities who feel alienated from or outside the usual service commitment or outreach of the Church. Each of the components of our charism binds us, individually and corporately, to a conscious commitment to the healing of memories. Working, praying, laughing together, we are a vital sign of the possibilities of racial harmony and peace. We invite you to learn more about the Emmaus Community by exploring our web site. But we also encourage you to visit, to become involved whether as a full vowed member, a lay or associate member, a volunteer, or a donor. Please contact us for more information. |
